ELL Tutoring

       Reading English is taught in a systematic and structured way,   Consideration of the material and skills that the student encounters in school is an important part of the student's plan. Language skills are integrated across the curriculum and not taught in isolation. For more advanced students, reading comprehension and writing tutorials are effective ways to improve skills and develop near to native proficiency in their bilingual quest. 

      These communication skills are part of every student's tutorials. It is common for English Language Learners to learn to read English first, Although this may be the case, listening and writing skills are introduced and practiced from day one. Reading, listening and writing skills are taught in an integrated manner, and students are encouraged to engage with the material in multi-modal ways. Specifically, students will write, speak, draw and listen during each tutorial. In addition to these, students will be encouraged to act out words and social types of situations.

      Students often ask for writing tutorials to improve essay and expository writing skills.

      Building a strong vocabulary is an important part of learning the English language. Students will be introduced to words they will need to effectively communicate as well as content words that they encounter in school.

      Many students take some level of the TOEFL (Primary, Junior, or ITP) depending on their level of proficiency, especially when applying to Elementary School, Secondary School, or College. Individualized tutorials designed for each student, help prepare the student to take these tests with confidence. Students learn test tasking skills as well as content material.
